Description
The project aims to develop and deploy to the scientific community a robust method to target and isolate discrete regions within a frozen biological sample. These isolated cellular regions can then be analysed to understand their macromolecular composition through standard proteomics and transcriptomics.
The development of new technologies and methodologies is critical to perform any type of research. The possibility to perform event targeted proteomics and transcriptomics has the potential to revolutionize cell and molecular biology, bringing the ability to analyse the molecular composition of any event in the exact context where it occurs.
This project will take advantage of a unique technology available in our lab and will provide a competitive advantage to the students who will learn how to operate a plasma Focused Ion Beam 2 years before its commercial availability.
