Description
Many individuals with an acquired brain injury, such as a stroke or traumatic brain injury, experience significant and long lasting physical, cognitive, behavioural and emotional impairments. These outcomes are associated with reduced quality of life for the individual and burden on loved ones. As such, engagement with rehabilitation and treatment is a key goal in their recovery. However, problems with substance abuse may negatively impact upon their ability to engage with such treatment programs. This project will involve conducting a systematic review of studies which have examined compliance/ engagement in rehabilitation for populations with acquired brain injury and substance abuse. We will also conduct a meta-analysis if there is scope.
