Prevalence and impact of frailty in people hospitalised with acute exacerbations of chronic lung disease: a systematic review and meta-analysis

Description
This study aims to identify the prevalence of frailty among patients admitted to hospital due to acute exacerbations of chronic lung disease (e.g. asthma, COPD, bronchiectasis, adult CF, lung transplantation). Comprehensive database searches will be conducted to identify eligible studies for inclusion. Primary outcome will be the pooled prevalence of frailty identified via a validated method. The impact of frailty detected during hospital admission will be evaluated on the outcome of readmission within the following 1 year. The successful candidate will be supported by A/Prof. Christian Osadnik at all relevant stages of the project. A/Prof. Osadnik is an experienced academic and long serving Editor with the Cochrane collaboration (current Cochrane Airways Australia Managing Editor). **Actual workplace location is flexible and varies according to stage of project (A/Prof. Osadnik is based at Monash University's Peninsula Campus but also supervises student projects remotely where appropriate)**
