Pain medicines for injured Australian workers

Description
A variety of pain medicines are available in Australia, such as opioids, paracetamol and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Some medicines are also used ‘off-label' for pain, such as gabapentinoids for low back pain. People injured at work in Australia are eligible for workers’ compensation funding for income support and health care to treat their injury or illness. Musculoskeletal conditions are the most common workers’ compensation time loss claim types. This project seeks to understand the types of pain medicines used by different musculoskeletal conditions.
