Clinical Psychedelic Lab Project #1: MDMA-assisted therapy for co-parents with high levels of conflict

Description
This project targets a major cause of mental health issues: early exposure to severe conflict and instability in the home. Despite the crucial role of parental relationships in the mental, physical, and behavioural conditions in the family unit, current treatments for couples are severely lacking, and no drug-assisted therapies exist. We aim to enhance relationship satisfaction, reduce conflict, and improve mental health within families through MDMA-assisted couples therapy, offering an innovative solution with substantial potential for positive social impact. The Clinical Psychedelic Lab at Monash University is Australia's first psychedelic lab, leading a rigorous program of research in psychedelic medicine that seeks to evaluate therapeutic effects, innovate on treatment design, mitigate known risks, explore potential drawbacks, and understand therapeutic mechanisms. We're a warm and ambitious group of researchers and clinicians working to develop and test best practice across multiple psychedelic therapies and for several different mental health conditions. There are various active and upcoming projects within the group, and this project is listed as an example among many options.
