Forensic Medicine: Correlation of post-mortem findings with toxicology results in cases involving new psychoactive substances

Description
New psychoactive substances (NPS) are illicit compounds which are often based on structural modifications of traditional illicit substances but with poorly described pathological and toxicological profiles. A growing number of Victorians die from drug related death each year, many of which involve NPS. This project aims to examine the postmortem findings of these cases and correlate with NPS detections to gain a better understanding of the involvement of NPS in sudden and unexpected death.
