How do you make a brain?

Description 
This exciting project will use genetic techniques to identify mechanisms that control brain development in the Caenorhabditis elegans model. The C. elegans nervous system uses the same molecular strategies as the human brain during development. Therefore, we aim to identify important molecules that are dysregulated in brain disease. The student will work alongside an experienced lab member who is already working on this project. The student will become expert in C. elegans genetics, behavioral assays, microscopy, imaging, whole genome sequencing and molecular biology. In addition, the student will be trained to critically analyse and present the data obtained. Only extremely dedicated and driven students with excellent oral and written communication skills should apply.
