Description
The Australia and New Zealand Bariatric Surgery Registry is working towards the implementation of patient-reported outcomes measures (PROMs) in their regular data collection from patients undergoing bariatric surgery. PROMs facilitate the collection of outcomes from patients that are often the most important to them, including their psychosocial well-being, mental health and quality of life. The collection of these outcomes at a Registry scale will facilitate a large data source from which research can be conducted to better understand how obesity and bariatric surgery impact the lives of patients, and how researchers and clinicians might better identify those patients who are at risk of adverse mental health and quality of life outcomes.
