Description
The paediatric bladder may be affected by many functional and anatomical issues that affect it's development. These are poorly described and understood despite multiple efforts at standardisation of definition and interventions by international organisations such as the ICCS. The field has also been stifled by the slow introduction of novel approaches or applications of technology.
The aim of this project is to:
1. Understand the developmental anatomy (gross and microscopic) that may contribute to normal bladder developmental, and "functional pathology".
2. Appraise current novel approaches to bladder diagnostics, and eventually apply the most promising technologies to children at MCH.
3. Review the neuropharmacology of the bladder, and appraise novel therapeutics.
This research has multiple arms and may be considered as a PhD, Masters by research or parts of it may be captured by a BMedSc(Hons).
