Studies to improve treatment and control of drug resistant and refractory sexually transmitted infections

We offer students an exciting opportunity to undertake translational research to improve treatment & control of STIs and genital infections, particularly those for which antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is impacting on cure. A major focus of our research is Mycoplasma genitalium, an STI which has developed resistance to all available therapies. Our STI research programme includes epidemiological studies, clinical studies of new antibiotics and treatment strategies, and studies of AMR and new resistance and point of care diagnostics to improve cure and antimicrobial stewardship. Our team provides training and expertise in clinical and epidemiological research and bioinformatics.
