Transition of road traffic crash survivors between systems of support

Description
An opportunity exists to undertake a PhD at the Healthy Working Lives Research Group within the Monash University School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine. For those injured in road traffic crashes, the time for which they are provided compensation whilst unable to work is limited, however little is known where injured persons receive income once this limit is reached. Further, it is unknown what social and health factors affect likelihood of transitioning. This linkage study will investigate the what, when, who, and how those injured in road traffic crashes transition from road traffic crash compensation systems to social security systems, using large, well-established, population-based linked datasets. This study aligns with Dr Gray's DECRA research, and research being conducted by both supervisors, who are both working with the Centre for Research Excellence in Better Health Outcomes for Compensable Injury as a Chief Investigator and Associate Investigator. This project will involve multiple research methods including conducting reviews to various quantitative analytical methods, dealing with linked data. Prospective students with a quantitative background and interested in health services, social policy or recovery from injury are encouraged to contact us. Support and training will be provided where necessary. Supervisors: Dr Shannon Gray and Prof Alex Collie For enquiries, please contact sphpm-gr-enquiry@monash.edu
