Understand culturally and linguistically diverse women’s experiences of accessing contraceptive care within the Australian primary care setting.

Australian women from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds are disproportionately less likely than their Australian-born peers to use effective contraceptive methods and to experience unintended pregnancy/ies. While we know that structural barriers, including visa entitlements, unfamiliarity with the Australian healthcare system, and isolation, can impede CALD women’s access to sexual and reproductive healthcare, our understanding of this issue is largely limited due to a lack of available Australian data. The aim of this project is to address this data gap and understand CALD women’s experiences of accessing contraceptive care within the Australian primary care setting, as well as the factors which impact these experiences.
